“Explore the snowy back-country of Chamonix Mont Blanc on Snowshoes”

In the winter months, we organise guided snowshoe trips for all levels and abilities. Whether you are an intrepid walker wishing to take your walking experience to a new level or whether you simply wish a day off from the skiing to try something new, snowshoeing offers something for everyone.

Snowshoeing is a fantastic way to explore the beauty of the Alps in the winter months. In the company of a guide, you don’t need any previous experience as it is very quick and easy to learn.  It is not surprising that snowshoeing has become one of the fastest growing winter activities.

Alpine Treks can organise tailor-made guided snowshoe trips of any length from half-day introductory walks to week-long adventures, and for any number of people at any age - snowshoeing is great fun for kids too.

Snowshoe trips will be tailored to individual ambitions and fitness and can range from a non-strenuous low-level walk searching for animal tracks to a challenging winter trip summiting peaks in the area.

Our snowshoe adventures are usually possible from December through to May and allow you to visit the snowy back country of the Chamonix Mont Blanc region in the safe company of a qualified leader.

During certain times of the winter, some mountain huts stay open to snowshoers, climbers and ski-tourers. Spending a night in a mountain hut far away from the hustle and bustle of the town during the dark winter months can be a very special experience. For the most adventurous snowshoers, over-nighting in a snow hole can also be arranged.

potential dangers that do not exist in the summer. Safety is top priority for us and we ensure that, where necessary, safety training and equipment, such as avalanche transceivers, is provided. For those interested, we can teach winter skills such as winter navigation, avalanche awareness and safe travel in winter as an integral part of your snowshoeing trip. Specific avalanche awareness courses for snowshoers, snowboarders and skiers can also be arranged.
