Spring is a fantastic time to go walking in the Alps. Very often, spring offers excellent weather and the mountains are much quieter outside of the main holiday periods. It is the perfect time to pay a visit to the Alps to see the early alpine flowers blooming and spot animals such as the marmot as they awake from hibernation.

The week will consist of day-walks from our comfortable Chamonix valley base, sampling some of the best walking trails around. We will explore different areas around the Mont Blanc massif and may cross the border into Italy or Switzerland. We will search out the trails in the best conditions for the season and the views and the “feel” of the walking will vary from day to day.

It is possible to adjust this week to the the member’s wishes and aspirations. A typical itinerary is shown below.

Brief itinerary:

Day 1:
Arrive Chamonix valley and meet with leader in the evening for welcome and briefing.

Day 2:
From Tre le Champ, we to the beautiful Lac Blanc, a mountain lake from where we have amazing views of the Mont Blanc massif and the Chamonix valley. This is a great day to get used to the altitude and familiarise ourselves with the terrain.

Day 3:
Travel to Trient in Switzerland on the North side of the Mont Blanc massif. From here we do a circuit via the Col du Balme, which forms part of the border between Switzerland and France.

Day 4:
We travel to the hamlet of le Couteray in the Vallorcine valley from where we walk up Val de Tre les Eaux to Col des Corbeaux.

Day 5:
From Les Mont, above Servoz, we walk to the Lac de Pormenaz where we have amazing views of the Rochers des Fiz above.

Day 6:
We travel to les Contamines in Val Montjoie where we finish the week with an ascend Mont Joly (2525m) on the west side of the Mont Blanc massif.

Day 7:
Depart Chamonix
